Advancing Croquet in Victoria

Visiting the Victorian Croquet Centre

The Victorian Croquet Centre, our headquarters, is the perfect venue for your event. It is available for hire to Corporations, Businesses, Community Groups, Individuals and Family Groups for events with or without croquet.

The purpose-built facility in Cairnlea, in the western suburbs of Melbourne, features 12 full size courts and a state-of-the-art pavilion. The function area seats 200, with a licensed bar and a commercial kitchen, and overlooks manicured grass courts.

Good things in young packages

Cairnlea played host to the Australian Under 21 Golf Croquet Championships on the weekend 24/25 September.

Five young players - Lana Sexton, Charlie Sharpe and Jamie Gumbrell from NSW and Jack Williams and Anthony Dask from Victoria - competed in a best of three round robin series.

Farewell Valerie Lefel
1932 - 2016

We share some tributes upon the passing of Valerie Lefel, formerly of Newstead Croquet Club.

Valerie was a key figure in the development of Golf Croquet in Victoria. Longstanding GC players will remember her well. Newer members will recognise her name from the Lefel Shield which is now awarded to the region winning the annual GC Inter-Regional Competition.

AC Handicap Championships

It is hard to remember a more well-attended event for some time.  A full field of 25 players competed in four divisions.  The events were planned to put players of similar handicap ranges together.  Players came from all over the state and South Australia!  We welcomed a number of new players to Cairnlea.

It was a demanding weekend for many of the players as games started at 8 am and in some cases continued through to darkness.

Women’s Invitational AC Championship

The Women’s Invitational was conducted at VCC on the weekend 17 and 18 September.  A full complement of eight women played a round robin.

It was very pleasing to see all members of last years’s successful Eire Cup team taking part.
